WSDOT to close Tumwater Canyon on Sept. 25 for pre-winter maintenance

Posted

LEAVENWORTH – Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will close US-2 Tumwater Canyon between Coles Corner and the City of Leavenworth on Sept. 25 for one day only.

The closure will allow WSDOT crews to expedite pre-winter maintenance throughout Tumwater Canyon, which includes removing hazardous trees, clearing shoulders and ditches, and repairing guardrails and pavement.

Passenger vehicles may detour on Chumstick Highway during the closure. Freight should use I-90 Snoqualmie Pass to US-97 Blewett Pass, as Chumstick Highway is a local county road and not appropriate for freight.

The closure is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 25, between milepost 84 to milepost 99. All travelers, including pedestrians and bicyclists, must stay out of the canyon during the closure for safety purposes.
