NCW Libraries to host artist Lupillo Beltran for symbolic art presentations

Posted

WENATCHEE - NCW Libraries will host local artist Lupillo Beltran at three locations in October and November, exploring how humans utilize symbols to communicate and share stories and traditions.

Beltran's presentation, "The Language of Symbols in Art," will highlight examples from the Aztecs, modern Mexico, and his family history from Guanajuato, Mexico.

The library system provided a bilingual announcement for the event: "¡Se le invita! A una plática informal con el grabador local Lupillo Beltrán, para explorar cómo los humanos utilizan símbolos en arte para comunicarse y compartir historias y tradiciones. Su presentación destacará ejemplos de los Mexicas, el México moderno y la trayectoria de su familia desde Guanajuato."

The program will be offered at these locations:

  • Wenatchee Public Library on Tuesday, October 22, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m
  • Leavenworth Public Library on Thursday, November 7, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m
  • Moses Lake Public Library on Friday, November 8, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Beltran graduated from Wenatchee High School in 2002. He has lived and worked in the Pacific Northwest since the 1990s, coming to the area as a migrant worker. Calling the West Coast his second home, his life journey spans from La Paz, Baja California, Mexico, to Juneau, Alaska, and many points in between. He has been creating illustrated art and murals since 2000, starting with the Ferry Street mural in Wenatchee.
